Solo Performance  |  2010

My body lies over the ocean...

A solo performance exploring the way we view ourselves in relation to the ‘Other’. Through personification of a dead fish, the performance plays with the often contradictory relationships that can arise between humans and other living creatures. Borrowing from the somewhat disparate forms of television cookery demonstrations, medical dissections, religious ceremonies and vaudevillian routines, the performance offers a layered and sensory provocation to concerns around life, death and our everyday existence.

History

fish-i was made as part of a solo performance module for my BA Drama degree at the University of Bristol, UK. It was performed publicly in the University’s Department of Drama in March 2010 and performed to camera in September 2011 for documentation purposes.
